Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that India is our most important neighbor and trusted friend. Thanking Sheikh Hasina, Modi said that the two countries will work together on the path of blue economy through maritime cooperation.

A section of diplomatic experts believe that this bilateral agreement on the security of regional sea lanes will deepen the New Delhi-Dhaka alliance in the coming days.

In a joint press conference, the two heads of governments said that India and Bangladesh have agreed to start negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership agreement. In this regard, Modi said, Bangladesh is our biggest development partner. Their interests are given top priority by India.

In addition to economic and trade cooperation, bilateral cooperation in information technology, space research, rail communication and nuclear research was agreed upon in Saturday's meeting. A positive decision has been made on 'green partnership' as well.

On the invitation of Narendra Modi, a Bangladesh government delegation led by Sheikh Hasina reached New Delhi on a two-day state visit on Friday (June 21). On Saturday morning there was a formal reception program at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi was present there to welcome Sheikh Hasina and her tour companions. President Draupadi Murmur's mounted bodyguard led Hasina's convoy inside from the outer gate of the building. After that, a formal 'Guard of Honor' was given by the three branches of the Indian Army. After the courtesy meeting with the President, Sheikh Hasina visited Mahatma Gandhi's tomb at Rajghat and paid her respects. This was followed by a meeting between Modi and Hasina at Hyderabad House.
