Top leaders from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and Sicily also attended Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

The event saw a record attendance of more than 8,000 dignitaries. The leaders will later attend a banquet hosted by President of India Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan the same evening.

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, New Delhi is under tight multi-layered security, aimed at ensuring security at Rashtrapati Bhavan and beyond during the ceremony.

Earlier, a special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Bangladesh Prime Minister and her entourage landed at VVIP Airport Palam Air Force Station at 11:51 am (local time) on Saturday after flying for about one and a half hours.

At the Palam airport, the Prime Minister was received by the Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (CPV and OIA) of India Muktesh Pardesi, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma and the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Mustafizur Rahman.

During her stay in New Delhi, Sheikh Hasina will hold a one-to-one meeting with Narendra Modi after attending the swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave New Delhi for Dhaka on Monday (June 10) afternoon.

In India's recently concluded 18th Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led NDA won 293 seats and the opposition India Alliance won 234 seats.

Bangladesh Prime Minister was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate Modi, reflecting the warm personal relationship between the two leaders.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina congratulated Narendra Modi on the landslide victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha elections.

"As the leader of the world's largest democracy, you symbolize the aspirations of the people of India," she said.

According to the Press Information Bureau of India, Sheikh Hasina congratulated Narendra Modi over the phone for the victory of the BJP-led NDA.

Modi said, 'India and Bangladesh have historic ties, which have grown tremendously in the last decade.'

In a message shared on X, Modi said he looks forward to working together to further strengthen the people-centric partnership between Bangladesh and India.

The two leaders pledged to continue working together to deepen the historic and close ties under the renewed mandate to achieve 'Developed India 2047' and 'Smart Bangladesh 2041'.
