A tree fell down on the way from Kakrail Mosque to Matsya Bhavan during heavy rain.

Traffic Sergeant Zafar Imam, who is in charge of this road, removed the broken trees and branches alone.

This incident happened on Sunday (May 5) around 11:30 pm.

Traffic almost came to a standstill during the storm due to the falling tree of the Directorate of Public Health Engineers. At this time, traffic jams were created in the surrounding area.

Later, Traffic Police Sergeant Zafar Imam came from Matsya Bhavan to the spot and cleared the branches and normalized the traffic.

When asked about this, Traffic Police Sergeant Zafar Imam said, "People were trying to reach their destinations like crazy in the rain and storm." In the meantime, there was a traffic jam on the road. After going to the spot; I saw a tree lying down. I tried to remove the branches and the tree alone in the rain storm.'

   

180 policemen left the country to join the peacekeeping mission

180 members of the Bangladesh Police left the country for Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, to fulfill the duties of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Congo (MONUSCO).

They left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday (May 27) at 12:40 PM in a special plane. AIG Media Superintendent of Police Inamul Haque Sagar confirmed the matter.

He said, 180 members of Bangladesh Police on mission will be replaced in the 16th rotation of Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU-1).

Superintendent of Police (SP) Kazi Rubaiyat Rumi is leading as the Commanding Officer of A Formed Police Unit of Bangladesh Police.

Additional IGP Anwar Hossain and officers of Overseas and UN Operation Branch of police headquarters officially said farewell to the mission-going policemen at the airport.

It should be noted that the peacekeepers of Bangladesh Police have been engaged in peacekeeping in various war-torn countries of the world with great skill, dedication and professionalism under adverse conditions for the past 35 years and have brought reputation for Bangladesh.

The extra room for cooking in the back wood stove will sink in 2/3 inch of water. I have never had so much water in my life. Oh, Allah, save the people of the coast.

Journalist Nadeem Newaz wrote, severe flooding in Swarupkathi due to Cyclone Remal, I have never seen water rise in our house in my life, I have never seen knee-deep water in Swarupkathi market. In another post, he shared two videos and wrote, Cyclone Remal has not caused much damage so far due to low wind intensity in Swarupkathi. But with the morning tide there is a strong tide which is the record for Swarupkathi. I have never seen water so high in my life. This is the latest situation around our house.

Many others from different areas said that they had never seen such a flood in their lifetime. There were also reports of embankment breaking and flooding in many areas. In Khulna's Koira, 3 embankments have broken due to flooding. At least 20 villages have been flooded. Hundreds of shrimp enclosures have sunk in the river water. Mud houses and shops were broken. Heavy rains and gusty winds overnight have reported extensive damage in 7 unions of this upazila.

Koira’s Maharajpur UP Chairman Abdullah Al Mahmud said that around midnight on Sunday (May 26) the water of Kapotaksha river broke through a 50 meter dam in Dashalia area of this union due to tidal pressure. At least two villages and hundreds of shrimp enclosures have been submerged. In Shyamnagar, Satkhira, 13 houses were submerged in tidal water.

On the other hand, 7 people have died in the cyclone till Monday (May 27) noon from various sources. One in Patuakhali in rough waves and one on way to shelter in Satkhira. Two people including a child are missing in trawler sinking in Mongla. Also, 5 people died due to Cyclone Remal in Barishal, Bhola and Chattogram.

Around 1.25 crore consumers of Rural Electrification Board and Westzone Power Distribution Company Ltd were cut off during the cyclone. If the number of family members of the customer is 4 on average, about 4.5 crore people are without electricity.

It is reported that the power supply is gradually being restored after 10 am on Monday (May 27). The electricity department said that the lines have to be checked and then started. In many areas, trees have fallen on the lines and the wires have been torn, poles have been uprooted in some places.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan said that the investigation officer will ask the court to ban former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed's foreign travel if necessary. However, he said that it will be determined subject to investigation.

He said this while talking to the media on Monday (May 27).

Earlier, on Sunday (May 26), the court ordered the confiscation of assets of 113 documents and four flats in Dhaka's Gulshan in the name of Benazir Ahmed and his wife and children. At the same time, it was also ordered to block the shares held in their names in various companies.

Last Thursday (May 23) in view of ACC's application, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Ass Sams Jaglul Hossain's court ordered the seizure of 83 documents belonging to Benazir Ahmed. At the same time, the court ordered the bank accounts to be freezed in the name of his wife and daughters.

Before that, on April 22 last month, Supreme Court lawyer Sala Uddin Regan filed a writ in the High Court seeking an inquiry into Benazir Ahmed's corruption allegations.

Incidentally, Barrister Syed Syedul Haque Sumon wrote a letter to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the allegations against Benazir Ahmed. The letter said that former Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Benazir Ahmed retired on September 30, 2022 after serving for 34 years and 7 months. After retirement, Benazir Ahmed's wife and daughters have huge assets in their names, which are disproportionate to his income.

A recently published national daily claimed that the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the former Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed is the owner of a large amount of illegal assets. Since then, this former IG of police has been discussed a lot.

Benazir Ahmed said in a video message entitled 'Amar Kichu Katha' on the social media Facebook last Saturday (April 20) in protest of the published news that the news has been published with false and fanciful information.

Benazir Ahmed claimed that some information has been exaggerated and presented.
