The private car of the sister of a 47th batch student of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was damaged when a bus of Itihasa Paribahan plying on Dhaka-Aricha highway suddenly braked. In this incident, 8 buses were seized and some students demanded compensation of Tk. 1 lakh 31 thousand. Jasim Howladar, the checker of Itishah Paribahan, confirmed that the buses were released around 7:30 pm after the compensation of Tk. 60,000 was paid.

The incident took place at Shimultala area of Savar on Dhaka-Aricha highway around 9 am on Saturday (April 27). Later, when the sister of the owner of the damaged vehicle told her friends on the campus, they intercepted the buses bound for Aricha between 10 am and 12:30 pm on the Dhaka-Aricha highway near the main gate of the University.

According to eyewitnesses, around 10 am, when a motorcycle was taking a U-turn from the middle lane of the highway in Savar's Radio Colony area, a bus of Itishah Paribahan braked and stopped on the road. Then, when a bus of Savar Paribahan behind the bus of Itishah Paribahan also braked, the private car of the elder sister of a student of the 47th batch of Jahangirnagar University hit the back of the bus. The front of the car was twisted. Later, when JUs student told the incident to her department friends, they appeared on the Dhaka-Aricha highway and intercepted 8 buses of Itishah Paribahan and took the keys.

The driver of a bus of Itihash Paribahan said about the arrest of the bus. Driver Sagar told Barta24.com that when one of our (Itihas) buses braked hard at Savar's Shimultala, a Savar transport bus behind could not handle the speed and knocked our bus behind. And when Savar Paribahan's bus braked, a private car behind hit the back of Savar Paribahan's bus. The front part of the private car was damaged. Due to this, Savar transport bus was not stopped but our buses were stopped.

In this regard, the JU student who was in the damaged private car said that after such a big incident, the bus pulled away quickly without seeing whether someone was dead or alive. Then the driver of my private car got on the Itishah Paribahan bus and asked why he braked so hard, the bus driver and his colleague abused and threatened him and got him off the bus. We want road safety.

Meanwhile, around 7:00 p.m., it can be seen on the ground that 5 buses of Itishah Paribahan are standing in a row on one side of the Dhaka-Aricha highway in front of the main gate of the University. Some of the co-drivers are chatting in the car, while others are sitting on the road. Talking to the driver and staff, it is learnt that although 8 buses were detained, the students forgot to take the keys from 3 buses. Later those three buses left.

The checker of Savar to Jirani route Jasim Howladar confirmed to Barta24.com that when the bus owner was demanded a compensation of Tk. 1 lakh 31 thousand as the private car was damaged, the bus owner authorities settled the matter for Tk. 60 thousand. Jasim Howlader.

He said that the private car was damaged after colliding with the Savar Paribahan bus. But by blocking our bus they are demanding compensation of 1 lakh 31 thousand rupees. It's no fair talk! Even then, both sides discussed and took the keys of the car with a compensation of Tk. 60,000.

To learn about this incident, the newly appointed proctor of the University made several attempts to contact Dr. Alamgir Kabir on his mobile phone but he did not respond.

After all the worries have ended, now the farmers of Haor have smiles on their faces. On the one hand, the yield has been good, on the other hand, due to the good weather; this year's crop has been harvested well. Now the work of rice threshing is going on with what little land is left, that too will be exhausted by now although the weather was a bit inclement at the end, it did not cause any major problems. As a result, farmers are breathing a sigh of relief

Paddy drying is going on everywhere including the Haor area of Kishoreganj. Forgetting to eat and drink, now trying to bring rice home. This year the yield has been good due to good weather. Meanwhile, 96 percent of paddy harvesting is over The rest will be cut in a few days. Now the rice threshing work is going on in full swing. Paddy threshing is going on in the street due to the coming of the sun. Paddy drying is going on in Haor area roads, schools, house balconies and fields. The sweet smell of rice is spreading in the air. Everyone in the family is now working as a laborer.

According to the information of the Department of Agriculture, Boro paddy has been cultivated in 1 lakh 67 thousand 150 hectares of land in the district this year. Out of which 1 lakh 4 thousand hectares have been planted in Haor. The production target has been set at 12 lakh 53 thousand 625 tons of rice which will be sold for about Tk. 3 thousand crore.

At the end of harvest and threshing of Boro season in Haor area, in a festive atmosphere, the farmers are spending their time busy with drying the rice by boiling it at night and drying it from morning. They have no fatigue even after working day and night. Farmers are happy with the bumper yield and prices of crops produced as expected.

Nikli Majlishpur farmer Ali Ahad said, two days ago there was worry, now it is not. The rice of dreams has now come to hand and if the sun shines on any given day, I can bring all the rice home.'

Maram Mia, a farmer of Katiadi Gachihata, said that everyone in the house is going down to cut the paddy. At last the paddy harvest is over. I am working day and night. Don't worry anymore.'

Farmers are bringing sacks of boiled paddy from home on bicycles to dry it on the road. And the farmers are loosening the paddy with their feet. Farmers are stepping on the golden paddy in the scorching heat. Many people are selling their produce from home besides selling it in haat-bazaar.

It has been seen in Etna, Mithamain, Ashtagram and Nikli Haor of the district that various roads, educational institutions and playgrounds have been occupied by the steam of drying paddy. Even in the hot sun, the farmers are not tired, but they have a smile of relief on their faces after drying the paddy. They are very busy drying rice and hay. They are drying rice from morning till evening. Small and large polythene sheets are laid on the grass of the field to dry the paddy quickly. And the paddy is being dried in that polythene. Someone is turning the paddy, someone is cleaning the garbage from the paddy. Many are getting ready to dry their produce in the sun. All in all, with the intense sun and rain, the work of raising paddy and planting it for the market is going on. Nobody has leisure. The sun of discomfort seems to have brought them relief.

Boro bumpers have also been harvested in Nikoli, Bajitpur, Tarail, Karimganj, Katiadi and other upazilas of the upstream area including Itna, Ashtagram, Mithamin Haor of Kishoreganj this year. The price of rice is also good. At the threshing floor, paddy is being sold at Tk. 850 to Tk. 950 per maund.

Abdus Sattar, Deputy Director of Kishoreganj Agricultural Extension Department, said that paddy harvesting is almost over. This year the yield has been good due to good weather So naturally farmers are happy.
