Four including women and children were killed in a bus accident in Cumilla
Four members of the same family, including women and children, were killed in a bus accident in Cumilla's Daudkandi.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Chattagram highway on Monday (April 22) around 8 pm. The victims were crossing the road. Among them 2 were women and the remaining 2 were children.
The deceased were Dilbar Nessa (55) of Kadmatoli village in Titas Upazila of Cumilla, her daughter-in-law Shaheenur Akhtar (24), granddaughters Saima Akhtar (6) and Raisa Akhtar (2). It is said that Shahinur's husband is an Saudi expatriate.
Daudkandi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinul Alam confirmed the matter.
He said that an unidentified bus hit the pedestrians in Raipur Malikhil area of the highway. They died on the spot.
OC Shahinul Alam said that three women with a child were going from one side of the highway to the other at around 8 o'clock on Monday night. At that time, a Dhaka bound bus of Ekushe Paribahan from Noakhali hit them. Later they were rescued and taken to the upazila health complex, the doctor in charge declared the three women dead. The child who was with them was being taken to Dhaka with serious injuries. She also died on the way.
