EC orders to arrest identified terrorists and recover illegal arms

The Election Commission (EC) has ordered to recover all illegal and arrest identified terrorists. EC also asks to strengthen security measures in important areas outside polling stations and polling booths in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections.
On Sunday (December 3), the EC's election management branch disclosed this instruction in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary Atiyar Rahman.
According to the EC, the operation of recovery of all illegal weapons should be strengthened along with security arrangements in important areas outside polling stations and polling booths. The list of identified terrorists should be prepared and arrangements should be made to arrest extortionists and identified terrorists.
Along with the deployment of sufficient numbers of members of the law and order forces in the polling stations, arrangements should be made to deploy more law and order forces in the identified disturbed polling stations.
Political parties participating in the elections, rival candidates or their supporters neither abide by the rules of electoral conduct and refrain from any bitter, inflammatory or sentimental activity or speech nor influence the election by money, muscle power or local power and mutual goodwill. And to ensure that good relations are maintained, the cooperation of all concerned and necessary legal measures should be taken.
For the purpose of provision, arrangements should be made to organize a meeting with the leaders of local political parties, rival candidates and local trusted workers as soon as possible and if necessary, multiple meetings. The cooperation of all concerned should be sought by referring to the law and statutory aspects through discussion. Any complaints should be immediately investigated and remedial action taken.
Constituency voters, especially women voters, should be encouraged to vote fearlessly and unhindered. For this purpose, steps should be taken to ensure security measures.
