Khadija's lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua told the media that Khadija should have been released as soon as the bail order reached the jail. She has been wrongfully detained.

Senior Jail Superintendent of Kashimpur Women's Jail Shahjahan Ahmed told the media that we received the order at 8:30 pm. It will take some time to complete this ordering process as all the inmates were already taken to the cells. Attempts will be made to release her on Monday.

On October 11 and 19, 2020, the Kalabagan and Newmarket police stations filed a case under the Digital Security Act against Khadija, a student of JnU's political science department. She was arrested on August 27, 2022 after filing a charge sheet. She has been in jail for the past 11 months. Khadija could not give the exam for two semesters already. On February 16, the High Court granted permanent bail to her in two separate applications. But a chamber Judge withheld the bail order after state side moved to suspend the bail of Khadija granted by the High Court.
