Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources of the Interim Government, said that businessmen, industrialists and brands have to play an important role in sustainable development and environmental protection.
She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the second SDG Brand Champion Award ceremony “Sustainability Summit-2024”organized by Akizbasir Group Bangladesh Innovation Conclave organized in collaboration with Intellier and The Daily star at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday (September 10) night.
She said that environment and economic sustainability are closely related. Companies that have made a significant contribution to meeting the SDG goals will be rewarded in various categories, encouraging others to do the same.
Thanking BBF for the arrangement, she urged the government and private industry owners and business leaders to work together to make the country's environment livable.
Meanwhile, the Environment Adviser also said, if we cannot leave in a clean environment for our future generations, then all development will not be sustainable. She called upon business leaders to work to combat climate change and conserve natural resources for future generations through corporate responsibility and sustainable initiatives.
In the event, the speakers discussed in three panels where Chairman of Akizbasir Group Basiruddin Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Brac University and President of Asia Marketing Federation, Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Dean of Economics Department of East West University, Prof. Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque, ESG Officer of International Finance Corporation Lopa Rahman, ACI Logistics (Swpna) Managing Director Sabbir Hossain Nasir and others.
At the end of the discussion, SDG Brand Champion Award 2024 was given to the organizations that played a role in sustainable development in various categories. The event recognized various brands that have played a role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
