Former Chattra League leader killed in mass beating in Rajshahi

Former Chhatra League leader Abdullah Al Masood, who was beaten up on charges of attacking students during the anti-discrimination student movement, has died.

He died on Saturday (September 7) at around 12:15 pm while undergoing treatment in Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital's ward number 31. Earlier on Saturday afternoon, Abdullah Al Masud was beaten up in Binodpur Bazar area of the city.

The deceased Abdul Al Masood was working as a store officer at Rajshahi University Medical Center. His village home is in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. Masud's father's name is Rafiqul Islam.

The deceased Masud became the father of a daughter on September 3. It is said that they used to live in Binodpur with their family due to their job.

In this regard, Boalia Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masood Parvez said, Abdullah Al Masood was beaten in Binodpur. Then a group of students took him first to Motihar and then to Boalia police station. He was sent to the hospital with serious injuries. He died there.

He said that the body of the deceased is in the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital. After the legal formalities, the body will be handed over to the family.
