According to the notification, 14 of the 57 Bangladeshis who were pardoned in the United Arab Emirates will return home today at 7 pm. The flight carrying them will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport first at 7 pm. Later the same flight will land at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram at 10 pm.

Before this, at the request of the Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pardoned all 57 Bangladeshis who were sentenced to prison in connection with the protests last July.

Last July, expatriate Bangladeshis protested in various places in the United Arab Emirates in support of the student movement in Bangladesh. The federal court of that country accused them in this incident.

The Attorney General said that the United Arab Emirates has a legitimate way of expressing people's opinions. In this way, it has been ensured that the rights of people are not harmful to the interests of the country and the people.

A court in the country sentenced 57 Bangladeshis to various terms of imprisonment for protesting in different parts of the United Arab Emirates last July in solidarity with the quota reform movement. Three of them were sentenced to life imprisonment, 53 to 10 years and the remaining one to 11 years.
