Foreign Affairs Adviser Tauhid Hossain commented that exaggerated publicity in Indian media on the Bangladesh issue is not good for bilateral relations.

Adviser on Foreign Affairs Tauhid Hossain said this when Indian High Commissioner Pranoy Verma, appointed in Dhaka, came to meet him on Wednesday (August 14).

Foreign Affairs Advisor Tauhid Hossain said Bangladesh wants to work closely with India to improve bilateral relations. He stressed on more 'mass-centric involvement' in the future. He particularly emphasized on some important issues like stopping border killings, signing of the Teesta water sharing agreement and ensuring supply of essential commodities.

Also mentioned highly exaggerated media coverage of the incident in Bangladesh. Regarding the recent speech of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he mentioned that such speech coming from India is not helpful for improving bilateral relations.

Indian High Commissioner Pranoy Verma congratulated the Foreign Affairs Adviser on his new role.

He referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's best wishes as the Chief Adviser and expressed the Government of India's keen interest in working with the Interim Government in the future to fulfill the shared aspirations of the people of both countries.
