The 12th Jatiyo Sangsad(JS) led by Sheikh Hasina was dissolved by President Md. Sahabuddin
This was informed in a notification sent from Bangabhaban on Tuesday (August 6) at noon.
Following the decision of the three army chiefs, leaders of various political parties, civil society representatives and anti-discrimination student movement leaders meeting with Md. Sahabuddin, the 12th JS was dissolved.
Earlier, Asif Mahmud, one of the co-coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, warned to announce a strict program if the JS is not dissolved by 3 pm today.
Coordinator Nahid Islam said, we are dreaming of a new Bangladesh after the victory achieved by overthrowing the fascist Hasina in exchange for the blood of martyrs. Various forces are conspiring and making various plans to thwart that victory. We would like to make it clear on behalf of the student community that the liberation student community is always ready to defeat all kinds of conspiracies to free this country from the fascist regime and create a new Bangladesh.
He also talked about attacks, vandalism and looting in different parts of the country after the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on Monday. He said, we can see that there have been incidents of looting, violence and communal attacks in various places. We call upon the freedom-loving students; we must always be vigilant and strive to prevent such incidents. No one can thwart our movement.
Complaining that "Yesterday (Monday) the President announced the election of the JS without delay, yet the JS of 'Fascist Hasina' has not been dissolved", Nahid said that if the JS is not dissolved by 3 pm, we will be forced to give a strict program. We want to tell the nation that we have announced the name of the Chief Adviser to the Interim Government. We are also preparing the outline of the government with one of the advisors. I will present that outline before the nation soon.
He said, we want national stability, we want social justice. For that some steps have to be taken, the first step for that would be to dissolve the national parliament. May you all rest in peace. Always be alert to thwart all conspiracies.
Besides, BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been released and from July 1 to August 5, the anti-discrimination movement and those arrested in various cases have started to be released and many have already been released.
