The court has ordered former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahidul Haque to be sent to jail after seven days of remand.

On Wednesday (September 11) morning, after the seven-day remand, Shahidul Haque was produced in the court and requested to be detained in jail. In view of the application, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider ordered to send him to jail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akhtaruzzaman granted Shahidul Haque a seven-day remand last Wednesday (September 4) in the case of the murder of businessman Wadud in Newmarket area. At that time, the police applied to take him on 10-day remand for the sake of proper investigation of the case.

The media and public relations department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that Shahidul Haque was arrested from Uttara Sector 16 last Tuesday (September 3).

It should be noted that the Awami League government fell in the mass upsurge of students on August 5. Shahidul Haque was appointed as IGP on December 30, 2014 during the period of that government. He retired on 31 January 2018.

The joint forces have arrested five people including the president of Gaibandha Saghata Union Awami League and UP chairman. Two of them died while undergoing treatment.

Gaibandha Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin & Finance) Ibne Mizan confirmed the arrest and death to Barta24.com on Tuesday (September 10) afternoon. Earlier on Monday, they were arrested from Gobindi area of Saghata Union of Saghata Upazila.

The deceased are Sohrab Hossain Apel (35) son of Rostam Ali of Gobindi area of that union and Shafiqul Islam (45) son of Malekuddin of the same area.

Besides, the rest of the arrested are Mosharf Hossain Sweet (45), president and chairman of Saghata Union A.League, Shahadat Hossain Palash (45) son of Serayet Ali of Banshihari area of Saghata Bharatkhali and Riazul Islam Rocky (28) son of Shafiqul Islam of North Sathalia village.

According to the police, members of the joint forces raided Gobindi village of Saghata union of Saghata upazila on Monday morning. At that time, those five people including Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Sweet were arrested. When they fell ill soon after their arrest, all five of them were first admitted to Saghata Upazila Health Complex. Shafiqul Islam and Riazul Islam among the arrested were referred to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and Mosharraf Hossain Sweet, Sohrab Hossain Apel and Shahadat Hossain Palash were referred to Gaibandha General Hospital when their physical conditions deteriorated there. Among them Shafiqul Islam died at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital at around 9:30 am and Sohrab Hossain Apel at Gaibandha General Hospital at around 11:30 am.

The wife of Sohrab Hossain, who died in Gaibandha General Hospital, claimed that her husband was not involved with any political party. He was a government primary school night watchman.

He said they killed my husband and broke one of his legs. He died in hospital today.

Mahbub Hossain, the Superintendent of Gaibandha General Hospital, who visited the injured patients at that time, said that there had injury marks in various places on the bodies of the injured. But spoke to the RMO of the hospital about the deceased.

Resident Medical Officer (RMO)of Gaibandha General Hospital Dr. Md. Asifur Rahman said, the victim's body had injury marks. But death from this injury is unexpected. Maybe his body had underline lice. An autopsy will reveal the exact cause of death. In response to the question of the injured, he said "the process of referring the injured to Rangpur Medical College is underway".

Gaibandha Additional Police (Admin & Finance) Ibne Mizan said, after the arrest, they panicked and were admitted to Saghata Health Complex due to physical ailments. Later, when their condition deteriorated, three were admitted to Gaibandha General Hospital and two to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Among them, Shafiqur Rahman at Bogura and Apel died in Gaibandha Sadar Hospital this morning. The remaining three are under treatment.

The name of this terrorist who was the victim of mass laundering in Patia, Chattogram is Md. Rony (35). He is the son of Shafiul Alam Prakash Batam Mistry of Daksinghata area of ward number 6 of Patia municipality.

Locals said that on August 4, students of Patia Al Jamia Madrasa marched in solidarity with the anti-discrimination student movement. Rony openly took arms in front of Patia Palli Vidyut and fired indiscriminately on the marchers. Earlier, during the anti-discrimination student movement on July 18, armed Rony openly attacked the student procession in front of Patia Government College gate and injured some.

Rony was FIR named the accused in the case filed by Shibir leader Enamur Rashid regarding the attack on the student movement. He was also mentioned as the gunman in the case description.

In that case, at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, some Patia people along with Rony applied for bail in the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court. Later, the court granted bail to 22 people including Rony after the hearing. At that time, after hearing about Rony's presence in the court, the students started moving towards the court. On hearing the news, Rony was on the way to run away from there and was attacked by angry students in the Patia Government College grounds. At that time, he was beaten up by the students. Later Rony was handed over by the students to Patia police.

After that, the students went to the court and started protesting in the lawyer's room. The lawyers then withdrew the bail application. As a result, the bail was canceled by the court. Later Rony was arrested and sent to jail in that case.

Patia Senior Judicial Magistrate Court GRO Forkan Mia said that 22 accused, including Rony, were granted bail in the case of attack on the student movement. Later, the lawyers withdrew the bail plea due to student protests. As a result, their bail has been cancelled.

The Chief Advisor of the Interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus commented that every institution of the country has been destroyed during the dictatorial rule of Sheikh Hasina.
