Dhaka: US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on telephone on various current affairs. Among the topics of their discussion was the issue of minorities in Bangladesh.

A statement from India's Foreign Office on Monday (August 26) said the two leaders had a detailed exchange of views on several regional and global issues. It discussed ensuring the safety of Hindus including bringing back normalcy in Bangladesh.

The Indian Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for US President Joe Biden's deep commitment to the Indo-US strategic partnership, the statement added.

Regarding the phone conversation with Biden, Modi wrote on his Twitter, "He had a phone conversation with US President Biden today. During this time, we exchanged views in detail on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine.

Besides, we also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and emphasized the need to restore normalcy in the country as soon as possible. Besides, there was a discussion about ensuring the security of the minorities of Bangladesh, especially the Hindus.
