Government introduces ‘Achiever Award’ to encourage budding talents: Mein

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said Thursday that to encourage the budding talents of the state, the government is introducing the ‘Achiever Award’ from this year, for which a provision of Rs 1 crore has been kept in the budget. Attending the Luminous Lummer Dai Literary Award ceremony here, organised on the occasion of the 83rd birth anniversary of Lummer Dai by the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS), Mein highlighted the government’s active role in reviving the stories of the state’s unsung heroes and restoring the folklores of the state pertaining to the various indigenous communities.

The deputy chief minister praised the literary contributions of Dai and stressed the importance of promoting literature and education in the state. He also highlighted the achievements of individuals from various sectors, including sports, education, and business, who brought laurels to the state. Born on June 1, 1940, Dai was a renowned literary icon in the state who made significant contributions to the field of literature. His debut novel, ‘Paharor Xile Xile’ is the first novel written by an Arunachalee. After his demise in 2002, the Assam Sahitya Sabha and the APLS have been honouring his lifetime contributions through various awards and celebrations, and the Luminous Lummer Dai Literary Award is one of the most prominent ones.

Mein later handed over this year’s award to Jumsi Siram, who has also remained a recipient of the Vishwa Hindi Samman since the 12th World Hindi Conference in Nadi, Fiji. Mein also released the latest edition of ‘Pravas’, the only literary magazine in Arunachal Pradesh, along with three other books. The event was also attended by APLS President Y D Thongchi, Itanagar Smart City Development Corp. CEO Dahey Sangno, Assam Publicity Board Secretary Pramod Kalita, Cultural Affairs Secretary Tai Kaye, and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Mamang Dai, among others.

   

Bus fell from flyover in India killing 5 people

A passenger bus fell off a flyover after losing control in the Indian state of Odisha. Five people were killed and about 40 were injured. Among the dead are four men and one woman.

On Monday (April 15), the Indian media Hindustan Times reported this information.

According to the report, the accident took place near Barbati in Jajpur district on the way from Puri to Kolkata at around 9 pm on Monday (April 15). The bus fell down when the driver lost control while climbing a flyover on National Highway-16.

In the initial investigation, the police found out that there were about 50 passengers in the bus. On receiving the information, a team of police and fire brigade reached the Barbati Bridge and started the rescue operation. The injured were sent to the local Dharamshala Hospital in 10 ambulances. The seriously injured have been sent to SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack.

Iran has summoned the Ambassadors of the three countries

Iran's Foreign Ministry has summoned UK, German and French ambassadors. The director general of the country's Western Europe department summoned them.

Sunday (April 14) in a report of the Iranian news agency IRNA.

According to reports, the Director General of Iran's Western Europe Department informed British Ambassador Simon Shercliffe, German Ambassador Hans-Udo Muzel and French Ambassador Nicolas Roche on Sunday about the attack on Israel's military base in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations.

The Director-General strongly condemned the attack on the Iranian consulate compound in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and criticized the three countries' "duplicitous behavior".

He also said that Iran is always ready against any force to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.

The ambassadors of the UK, Germany and France said that they will soon deliver this message to the capital of their country.

It should be noted that on April 1, 13 people were killed in an Israeli attack on the premises of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the capital of Syria. In response to this, Iran attacked Israel with more than 300 drones and missiles on Saturday.

Several US officials claimed that Iran has prepared more than 100 cruise ships to attack Israel last week.

Iran seizes Israel's ship, tensions are high

Naval commanders of Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard have seized an Israeli container ship from the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest and most important sea routes.

Indian media NDTV reported this information on Saturday (April 13) about several media.

According to NDTV report, in a video published by Iran's state news agency "Irnar" on Saturday, it can be seen that the naval commanders of the country's Revolutionary Guard conducted an operation on the ship. The ship named MSC ARIES was seized by Revolutionary Guard troops.

Earlier, the UK military said an unidentified group had taken control of a ship in the Strait of Hormuz near the UAE port of Fujairah.

Meanwhile, Israel's military spokesman Daniel Hagari said in a statement that after this incident, the situation between Israel and Iran will reach a more dire state.

According to Iranian media, the ship belongs to Zodiac Maritime Shipping Company. The company is owned by Israeli tycoon Yaal Ofer. The media also reported that the vessel was a Portuguese flag carrier.

The vessel is now being towed to Iranian waters after being seized in the Strait of Hormuz.
