Narail: Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Jatiyo Sangsad member from Narail-2 and captain of Bangladesh ODI team has instructed the concerned to purchase paddy from the farmers directly.
He gave this instruction to the Deputy Commissioner over telephone on Sunday night(May19).
It is learnt that the National team captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza returned to country on the following night of Saturday(May 28) after winning the tri-nation cricket trophy in Ireland. After coming back to country he learned that the farmers are being deprived of their actual price of paddy. They are not getting even their production cost. When the government rate is Taka 1040.00 per maund it is being sold at Taka 600 to Taka 700 in the markets of Narail.
Knowing the matter Mashrafe telephoned the Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara on Sunday night and gave instruction to arrange purchase of paddy directly from the farmers.
Mashrafe warned that if any evidence is found that the paddy is being purchased through any syndicate then strong measures will be taken.
Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara has confirmed the matter and said that we also want to purchase the paddy from the farmers directly to ensure fair price. She also sought the cooperation of all in this regard.
