Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 on the occasion of historic April 17 Mujibnagar Day.

On Wednesday (April 17) morning, the Prime Minister paid tribute by placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the capital.

At the end of the wreath laying, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stood in silence for a while paying deep respect to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independence.

After that, along with the central leaders of the Awami League, the president of the party, Sheikh Hasina, once again placed a wreath on the portrait of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party.

Earlier, the party announced the detailed program on the occasion of the day. Among them, hoisting of national and party flags at Bangabandhu Bhavan, central office and all offices of the organization across the country at 6 am, wreath laying at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban premises, wreath laying at the memorial at 9:30, guard of honor at 9:45 and A discussion meeting was organized at Sheikh Hasina Manch in Mujibnagar, Meherpur at 10 o'clock.

It should be noted that on this day in 1971, the first cabinet of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was sworn in at mango grove in Baidyanathala of the then Meherpur sub-division of Kushtia district. A new history of independent Bangladesh was written. The Declaration of Independence of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh formed on April 10, 1971 was announced on this occasion.
