Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is going to hold a meeting with top officials to prepare for a possible Iranian attack on Israel. BBC reported this news on local media.

According to reports, this meeting may be held on Friday (April 12).

The news also said that Netanyahu is going to hold a meeting with Israel's wartime cabinet. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant and main opposition leader Benny Gantz may also attend the meeting.

A US official told CBS News, the BBC's US partner, that an Iranian strike could take place on Friday.

The attack could have targeted military installations in Israel with hundreds of drones, dozens of cruise missiles and possibly ballistic missiles, an unidentified official said.

A US official told the Wall Street Journal that US intelligence reports now indicated that Iran could launch a retaliatory attack on Israeli territory within days. However, Tehran can also attack positions related to the country's interests outside Israeli territory.

He said that the attack could happen in the next 24 to 48 hours. Israel is preparing to face a possible attack in the south or north of the country.

Note that Israel attacked the Iranian consulate in Syria on April 1. 13 people were killed in that attack. Several military officers lost their lives in the attack on the consulate. Among them was a senior Quds Force commander. He looked after the operations of the forces in Syria and Lebanon. Iran announced retaliation.
