India's ruling party, the BJP, has legalized corruption through electoral bonds. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi made this comment ahead of the country's Lok Sabha elections.
She wrote in X Handle on Sunday (24 March), 'Never in the history of the country has a government legalized corruption and turned all the institutions and entire systems of the country into extortion. Will the Prime Minister give an account of this loot to the people of the country?
She also gave examples of how BJP has done corruption.
Priyanka claims that 38 corporate organizations have donated Rs. 2,400 crore to the BJP fund through election bonds. In return, they got Rs. 3.8 lakh crore projects from the central government and BJP-ruled states.
Apart from this, ED, CBI and Income Tax Department conducted searches in 41 corporate bodies of the country. These agencies have contributed Rs. 2592 crore to BJP to escape from the hands of the Central Investigation Agency.
She also said, '16 shell companies have contributed Rs. 419 crore in election bonds to BJP. Many of these companies have subscribed more than their own capital.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh presented almost the same information in a press conference last Saturday. She demanded a probe under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
Besides, the Congress leader said that if there is an 'India' stage government, a special team will be formed to investigate the electoral bonds. The team will also look into the functioning of the PM-CARES fund.
